He has extensive experience in all areas of contentious real estate including rights of way, rights to light and restrictive covenants, especially in the context of redevelopment and regeneration schemes, and also advises on landlord and tenant matters including tenant compliance, insolvency, rent reviews, lease renewal and service charge disputes and dilapidations claims.
David also regularly acts in Energy, Wayleave and land rights disputes in the utilities sector including having niche expertise in Necessary Wayleaves and powers for licence holders under Schedule 4 of the Electricity Act 1989 and also for gas transmission and distribution licence holders under the Gas Act 1986.

- David has acted on a number of reported legal decisions for institutional landlords and corporate occupiers relating to rent review provisions in commercial leases (including the reported cases of Lucas Industries Limited v Monkspath Industrial Estate and Martineau Galleries v Birmingham City Council).
- David acts for electricity and gas transmission and distribution licence holders, including Cadent Gas & National Grid and has extensive experience in advising on Necessary Wayleaves under Schedule 4 of the Electricity Act 1989 and land compensation claims for the exercise of statutory powers (including CPO) and has deep experience advising on all issues arising out of contested claims for access to land.
- David acts for several of the UK's largest house builders, particularly strategic land teams and concerning disputes with landowners regarding the operation of option, collaboration, and promotion agreements, including disputes arising out of complex land valuation processes.
