Eversheds Sutherland advises Datacenter One on the sale of the IT infrastructure operator Globalways to Relined Fiber NetworkDecember 01, 2020 Eversheds Sutherland has advised Datacenter One, a portfolio company of STAR Capital, on the sale of its subsidiary Globalways to Relined Fiber Network, a subsidiary of the Dutch transmission network operator TenneT. Datacenter One, headquartered in Stuttgart, operates data centres across Germany. In addition, the company plans and builds turnkey data centres. The sale of Globalways is the successful conclusion of Datacenter One's transformation to a colocation-only provider. Globalways stands for professional IT infrastructure with maximum data security for demanding client projects. With more than 15 years of experience, Globalways is one of the leading IT infrastructure providers in Germany with its own glass fibre network in Stuttgart. Relined Fibre Network is one of the market leaders for dark fibre connections and provides glass fibre connections from unused fibre-optic cable capacities of public and/or private networks. An Eversheds Sutherland team led by Partner Christophe Samson and Counsel Jörg Hoffmann (both corporate/M&A, Munich) advised Datacenter One on the transaction with support from Partners Werner Brickwedde (corporate/M&A), Simon Weppner (tax, both Dusseldorf) and Martin Bechtold (antitrust, Munich/Brussels). Eversheds Sutherland again underlines its expertise in infrastructure investments by overseeing this transaction for Datacenter One. Eversheds Sutherland has recently advised on the sale of the German fiber broadband provider Deutsche Glasfaser to EQT and Canadian pension fund OMERS. With regard to data centres, Eversheds Sutherland, for example, advised the real estate fund CyrusOne on the acquisition of Zenium Data Centers and regularly supports data centre providers with respect to their development and operation as well as data centre transactions.
