She advises corporations across industries – including insurance, e-commerce, manufacturing, and technology – on strategies that align tax compliance with business objectives while mitigating risk.
Her practice spans international tax, where she counsels multinational companies on cross-border transactions, permanent establishment issues, and the implications of evolving global tax rules, including OECD initiatives and U.S. legislation. Mary also guides clients through the intricate requirements of information reporting and withholding for business payments, both domestic and international. In addition, she works extensively with leading insurance companies, investment advisors and insurance purchasers on tax issues related to new product development, insurance-dedicated funds, corporate and bank owned life insurance, and life insurance transactions.
Mary’s deep controversy experience sets her apart. She has represented taxpayers in examinations, appeals, and litigation before the U.S. Tax Court, Court of Federal Claims, District Courts, Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, her ability to anticipate regulatory changes and deliver practical, actionable guidance makes her a trusted resource for clients facing high-stakes tax matters.
