Miika is spesialized in insolvency law and business restructurings.
Miika leads Eversheds Sutherland’s Restructuring & Insolvency team. He advises creditors, investors, shareholders and other stakeholders on a wide range of insolvency-related matters and acts as bankruptcy estate administrator and restructuring administrator in corporate restructuring proceedings.
In addition to formal proceedings, he has extensive experience in consensual restructurings, providing clients with practical and strategic solutions, including pre-pack arrangements and solutions linked to mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Miika has handled or been involved in the following recent insolvency assignments.
- Lakea Group: administration of the bankruptcy estates of 24 housing companies – one of Finland’s largest housing-company insolvencies in recent years;
- Indoor Group: administration of the group’s bankruptcy estates (approximately 70 Asko and Sotka stores, approximately 600 employees and nearly 20,000 creditors);
- Järvisydän Group: corporate restructuring proceedings;
- Airways Aviation Nordic Oy: cross-border bankruptcy involving assets in several European countries;
- SP-Raudoitus Oy: administration of the bankruptcy estate, including the realisation of the factory property and machinery and the completion of unfinished projects to secure cash flow;
- Finnforel Oy: corporate restructuring;
- TerraWise Oy: corporate restructuring and related extensive restructuring measures;
- Helsingin EJT Hifi Oy: bankruptcy proceedings;
- FP-Pigments Oy: corporate restructuring with cross-border aspects involving Europe and North America;
- Vema Lift Oy: bankruptcy and sale of business;
- Nordic Sports Brands Oy: corporate restructuring;
- Eva Solutions Group: bankruptcy and coordination of insolvency proceedings involving group companies in Europe, the United States and Asia;
- Touhula Group: parallel restructuring proceedings involving group companies when the group was Finland’s largest private provider of early childhood education services;
- Terraroc Group: bankruptcy proceedings involving group companies and the coordinated international realisation of assets in Sweden, France, the United Kingdom and the United States;
