Eversheds Sutherland advises Schroders Greencoat on acquisition of Dutch biomethane platform

The transaction represents a further step in Schroders Greencoat’s strategy to expand its exposure to renewable gas infrastructure. Biomethane is increasingly recognised as a key component of the energy transition, particularly in sectors where electrification is difficult, offering a low-carbon alternative that can be integrated into existing gas networks.

The Netherlands is considered an attractive market for biomethane development, supported by strong regulatory frameworks, extensive gas infrastructure and a significant supply of agricultural feedstock.  This investment provides Schroders Greencoat with a platform to build further scale in a market that continues to play an important role in Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable and secure energy system.
