In recent years, George has focused his practice on the data center industry, representing hyperscalers in complex leasing and colocation arrangements, including service level agreements and work letters, as well as advising developers on the acquisition, development, and leasing of data center sites. His work spans all phases of data center transactions, from land acquisition and development through construction, leasing, and long-term operational arrangements.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, George was Executive Counsel – Global Real Estate at Baker Hughes, an energy technology company. Over his 25-plus-year career at the company, he held responsibility for all its major worldwide real estate matters, including leasing, purchases, sales and construction contracting, onsite and offsite solar power purchase agreements, solar ground leases, environmental matters, foreign corrupt practices act, dispute resolution and litigation management.
Some key matters that George handled for Baker Hughes included negotiation of several global and regional headquarters leases, development of a multi-facility mixed-office and industrial build-to-suit training, regional headquarters and operational oilfield services facility in Dubai, construction of major chemical plants in Singapore and Saudi Arabia, and sale-leasebacks of a major industrial operations base and a multi-site property package. A large part of George’s practice has involved heavy manufacturing, mining and ore processing facilities, port facilities, chemical plants and other heavy industrial processes.
Prior to joining Baker Hughes, George practiced for eight years with a leading Houston-based international law firm in its real estate, oil & gas section.
George speaks fluent German and conversational Italian.
